Personal Development, Health and Physical Education
As a core subject, PDHPE is a compulsory subject for Years 7-10. The main aim of the PDHPE faculty is to provide students with the necessary information to make informed decisions about their own personal health, and also to provide the experience of games and activities to give students the skills necessary to develop and maintain good health, as well as develop team building skills.
PD/H/PE involves two periods per week allocated to physical education and one lesson to personal development and health.
As an extension to the Stage 5 PD/H/PE course and to help prepare students for the senior 2 unit PD/H/PE course, an elective course, Physical Activity and Sports Science (PASS) has been introduced.
In Stage 6 and for the HSC a 2 unit PDHPE course is offered, which counts towards an ATAR, and from time to time the faculty offers 2 Unit Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation (SLR) course, a school-based subject is offered. This course is for 2 years and does not count towards an ATAR.
